State of Internet and Mobile Commerce Market Growth (handout) Donald Lim believes that Internet and mobile commerce is gradually taking off in the Philippines. He shared market figures on Filipinos buying online and type of products being bought. He also looked into the latest market study with cross analysis on the technographic and psychographic behavior of our new generation of digital sellers and buyers. The above topic was presented by Donald Lim during the DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Summit last November 12, 2009 at Hotel Intercontinental, Makati City Speaker profile: Mr. Donald Patrick Lim is the President and CEO of Yehey! Corporation, the Philippine’s no.1 search engine and Internet portal. He took the helm of a bleeding company and turned it around by reverse engineering the business model and transforming the company into a digital marketing holding company that is now dominating its market niche. He is also President and CEO of Media Contacts Manila, a joint venture company between Yehey Corporation and Europe’s largest interactive conglomerate Havas Digital. Before Yehey, Donald used to be the Vice President of Marketing of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, representing the company in various marketing local and international functions. Starting as a division head and manager of classifieds, he moved up to become assistant vice president, and eventually vice president, all in a span of three years, after doubling the revenues of the Classifieds department, launching new Inquirer products, and pioneering award winning marketing projects and promotions. It is during his time with the Inquirer that he launched the first ever multi-media marketing campaign Inquest, that garnered numerous awards in Europe and Asia as the most outstanding digital integrated campaign. Donald is a product of the management program of the Ateneo de Manila University, and finished his MBA with distinction from Murdoch University. Currently, he is finishing his dissertation on mass media for his DBA program with the University of Phoenix. Apart from these, Donald also has a diploma in Interior Decorating, a Diploma in Executive Management, and a Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Finally, Donald has finished Pelmanism from the Pelman Institute in Sydney, Australia. Aside from his full time job now with Yehey!, he oversees five other businesses of his own, and also does management consulting for up and coming brands and businesses. Donald is one of the only 24 Certified Professional Marketers in the country, and one of the first to be awarded the Certified Entrepreneur title by the Canadian Institute of Entrepreneurship. He now sits as part of the technical panel of the Commission of Higher Education, and have also been awarded the Dr. Bienvenido R. Tantoco Sr. Professorial Chair in Marketing by the Jose Rizal University. Most recently, Donald has been awarded the Young Market Masters Award in Online Marketing. He is one of the youngest to serve as President of the Philippine Marketing Association, the biggest gathering of marketing professionals in the Philippines. He is also the founding president of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines. Through IMMAP, the industry was able to create its own industry code of ethics, industry awards, the biggest industry Interactive Summit, and other digital initiatives. He is affiliated with various leadership organizations, being an active member of the Management Association of the Philippines, and currently a director of the Manila Junior Chamber. Finally, Donald serves as the board of Trustee of Operation Smile, a non-profit, volunteer service organization that provides free reconstructive facial surgery for children with cleft lips.
